Tenby Chase - 340   Woodcrest - 208       Go Sharks!

Meet News

(archives are here)

(7/4/08) After singing his commencement speech at his high school graduation two weeks ago, Alex Martino grabbed the microphone at Tenby Chase last night and gave us a rousing rendition of our National Anthem.  The Sharks went on to win some close medley relays and Kelly Messica gave us her first double win as a Shark (Go Kelly, Go Kelly) and the rest of the sharks enjoyed the cool evening shade and won a hard fought 340-208 victory over Woodcrest.  We had some 9-10 boys once again maturing before our eyes as 11-12s.  We also had some young-uns who had been watching Michael Phelps and tested out their Olympian starts, getting ready for the Games of 2020.. Enjoy the Fourth!  Go Sharks!

The Sharks had lots of double winners and at least two new qualifiers.

  Announcements

(7/4/08) We have one more home B meet on Wednesday against Woodbine.  Your friendly neighborhood webmaster will be zipping you an e-mail over the weekend requesting volunteers.  Hopefully, we can fill up the slots by Monday.  As always, volunteering your spouse is encouraged.  Older swimmers who are not competing can be timers so you can volunteer them as well.

(6/21/08) The good news is that starting with Wednesday's B Meet against Meadowbrook, we won't need to travel to any swim meets for a while.  We are hosting our next two A meets and our next two B meets.  Mark you calendars and be the first one on your block to volunteer.  Volunteering your spouse is also encouraged.

(6/21/08) We introduced the Big Sharks and Little Sharks to each other yesterday.  This is a very important program for the swim team that we began last year to build team spirit and unity.  A description of this program can be found here.

(6/21/08) If you have not done so already, please find a Sharpie and write your child's name on their team cap, the label on their team shirt, and any towels that they have.

(6/18/08) Parents, be sure to wear your Tenbywear to the meet on Saturday, to the club on Sunday, to work on Monday, to ...

(5/23/08) For new swim team members, the frequently asked questions.webpage is a valuable resource for what it is to be a Tenby Chase Shark.

(5/22/08) 2008 Qualifying times can be found here.  12&U times are unchanged and there are a couple of changes for the older kids.

(4/18/08) The 2008 swim team registration form has been posted in the newsletters and forms link above.

(3/5/08) We are going to have spring warm-ups this year at the Riverfront Y, for 6 weeks before our season starts. It will be held every Wednesday from 6-7pm, and will go from April 16 to May 21. The price for the 6 week program will be $60 per child. If you are still interested in participating, please respond to Coach Danielle via e-mail no later than March 7, so I can give the Y an accurate head count.

I think that this will be a great opportunity for our kids to get a jump start on the '08 season! I received many responses for the younger kids on our team, but let's encourage the older swimmers as well.

Those who are interested will receive additional information soon after March 7th.  I'm looking forward to see everyone!

(7/12/07) Believe it or not, our website is surfed by Aussies.  Wendy from Down Under sent us three new jokes (the first three) to post on our jokes page.  Fortunately, her jokes are just as bad as ours although they sound funnier when you say them with an Australian accent.  Visit our jokes page here.

Sharks in the News

(6/13/07)  Alex Martino was selected as one of 34 honorees in the BCT Teen Excellence program with the link here.

(3/27/07)  Another Tenby Chase Shark alum has been busy.  This time it's Grant and his Milk and Cereal video can be seen at YouTube.

(3/15/07) A Tenby Chase Shark has been in the news quite frequently in the past week.  Carli Lloyd, Shark Class of '01, is a member of the US National Team in soccer, and was MVP and scored a bunch of goals this week in Portugal in the Algarve Cup in preparation for the 2007 World Cup in China and next year's Olympics.  Well done, Carli!  Swim fast, kick hard, have fun!  Go Sharks!
